»False idols

May 1, 2007, 8:32 pm

I do have to admit as I write this, my computer screen is on my lap blocking out another screen, the TV screen- and on that screen is the bovine nature of Simon Cowell who is increasingly becoming this generations George Hamilton. His face has become a progressive hue of mandarin.

This is how I spend time with my parents.....

Now I don't have any sort of problem with the "idol" franchise, there is huge talent in these competitions. I have a problem with "idol" namely America's version of commodifying talent only for the course of the show. These great talents quickly become flung into the realm of obscurity never to be revived. They cannot break out of the idol mold, and ultimately suffer from the "Gary Coleman Syndrome" (Again I speak only of the American Idol, Canada does a much better job at helping out their extremely talented.)

I keep peeking around the corner of my computer to look at the TV, although I do wish they were watching something more my pace, like "The Surreal Life", or some other type of entertainmnet smut.......

I feel like the summer brain drainage begins I am gonna go look at Marcel Dzama drawings and hopefully I can have a more stimulating blog...... I apologize
