I've been meaning to install the developer tools for OS X, more or less for Quartz Composer, and though I've only spent about an hour slowly looking through it all, it's already got my brain back into a state of excitement. I think I may have overburdened myself with some sort of imaginary wall of a starting point. I know the larger ideas behind my projects, but I think I was having trouble seeing how to get there.
Admittedly, I've spent little time exploring jitter, but the few moments I've spent looking through Quartz has been inspiring. I can see how a program like this could be useful for some quick and dirty experiments, and looking at this site gives me lots of hope for creating digital art that is beautiful even after seeing so much of the same. The look of the organic within the digital will never cease to catch and hold my eyes.
So, if I can indeed open up Quartz to accept MIDI (or any information for that matter) from Max or some type of xml document, this could lead to lots of real-time generated art, which is lovely. Is it a fear of impermanence, a worry that I'll never make something worth holding onto past the instant you first encounter it that makes me want to create interactive works? I don't think so, but I wonder why I cannot will myself to make a piece of pretty looking digital art, when I'm more than pleased to do the same with photography.
At any rate, what little time the week holds for me will hopefully find me exploring and reading more and more. The summer is young and yet I'm somehow scared I'll miss it.

Richard. says,
I've just recently discovered that site too... it's amazing what can be done. Quartz Composer is extremely powerful, I too hope to unlock its secrets... for my newly established interest in the arts again.
Btw, what type of camera are you using for your videos? Your videos have such a saturated colour balance, it's very nice.
Keep up the good work.

I'm torn with Quartz Composer, it's very good for somethings, but it doesn't seem robust enough to do everything I would like it to.
I'm using a DVX100A for just about all of our stuff, glad you like the colours..
