There is a family of birds outside one of my windows. The eggs hatched this morning and the baby birds are incredibly delicate and hungry. I think this is the official announcement that spring is here and summer is just around the corner.
I've been extremely busy with work this week, but it's been good. However, it's left me with few moments to work on much of anything, or even think about what to get started on. I would like to become better acquainted with motion tracking in Max, and maybe I'll start that today. I also got a hold of the David Rokeby lecture from Artist Urban Plans, and I'm anxious to have a moment to look through it and become even more inspired.
I attended a conference yesterday, based mostly around the potential for an economic regional committee of sorts, to strengthen the 519 area code's economy. It was a long day, but there were a few moments when the talk of arts and culture was brought up... however, these were few and far between. The gap between understanding the importance of art in growing and sustaining the economy is underwhelming. The questions raised by business-focused people are valid, but there has to be a way to coherently explain the answers. I did come home with a nice canvas bag I'll use for grocery shopping though, so it wasn't all bad.
If politics are everywhere, they should be transparent and broadly focused.
I also got word I was accepted to present a paper on "Reactive Environments Through Politicized Artworks" for the Humanities and Technology Conference in Terre Haute, Indiana. Lots to write and investigate.
