Today was our much anticipated event at the school of Visual Arts at Windsor University, it was Sod Off Lebel. We transported over 100 pieces of sod from our art school to main campus through a human conveyor belt to claim some campus space. For all you windsorites out there recovering from temperature differentiation.
A couple of days ago we had record highs for April, but today it snowed i know I am not fully recovered physically and emotionally. However there were many a brave participants in our event who braved the elements in the name of art. It all went pretty well my favourite part were the faces and snickers of the unaware students on campus, So i didn't pass for a groundskeeper like I thought.
My two favourite moments were:
1. all the pieces were a foot by a foot and maybe 10 feet. Towards the end there was a little tuft of grass that made it's way down the chain and during CBC oppurtune photog moment. Afterwards at the after party I brought up this memorable moment to those I was sitting with only to find that little tuft made it's way into the chain because a lovely gal named Megan saw that lilttle tuft that fell off a larger piece all lonely in the parking lot, so she felt bad for it and reintroduced it to the chain. I thought this was a very poetic form of nobility.
2.While I was passing the sod near where the press was I looked up to find Emily there with her llittle hand held camera shooting the guy from the CBC with his large camera shooting her shooting him. I looked like a standoff the independent versus the commercial, I thought they might duel
